This year marks the 60th anniversary of one of the most important and inspiring milestones in human rights – the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (“UDHR”). On Sunday 7 December Amnesty International’s ARTillery festival, a multi-art youth festival in Northbridge, will show young people that the UDHR is just as important and inspiring today.

The festival is organised by the Youth Arts Team, who are all under 30 years of age.
It will invite young people and the arts community to influence the future of human rights. The program includes:

ARTillery Boot Camp (1pm – 5pm) will invite young people aged 13-17 years to participate in FREE creative workshops. They can make their voice heard through a song writing workshop with 2008 WAM Grand Prize winner Roly Skender. They can learn about theatre as a form of creative protest, make some noise with our drummers, make a human rights statement on the Graffiti Wall with the help of local street artists, check out didgeridoo or design a human rights message to screen print on a T-shirt. Local indie band Boys Boys Boys will wrap up the afternoon.

The masterPEACE art exhibition will display local artwork with a human rights message all day and night. For submission details, see the ARTillery website below.

The festival is part of the Amnesty International ‘Small Places Tour’ http://www.amnesty.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights-anniversary/small-places.
