THE JAMES STREET QUARTER AND STREET MARKET
Northbridge
- Dates:
-
SATURDAY 01 NOV | 1pm to 11pm
Stalls, activities, galleries featuring local artists, collectors, retailers, designers, and fashionistas of the future. Expect to find bargains direct from the WA producers that created them. Bring pocket money for your must-have special treats and early Xmas stocking fillers for friends and family, and enjoy a range of freebies including these highlights and tasters…
THE SILVER STREET SURGE. Look out as WA’s biggest Disco Ball and a rather large Processional Horse are rolled down James Street by over 100 primary school students, parents, teachers and friends from local schools. It starts at 3pm in the Culture Centre.
DANGERUSS. The viking pirate demi-god of the mad-cap fall and tumble. He’ll be performing at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, but his custom bamboo rig is a stunning piece of sculpture in the street to enjoy when he’s not on it as well.
WA BIKE TRIALS. These kids are stunt crazy. Awesome balances, drops, spins and flips. You will never look at a mountain bike in the same way again. 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm.
SCHMIGLOO. Direct from Melbourne’s Next Wave Festival, this giant inflatable igloo normally runs as a festival bar. During the Northbridge Festival, it’s running as a Free Fruit Bar. Drop in for a hit of Mother Nature’s good stuff.
TOTAL EXPOSURE EXHIBITION. The Northbridge History Project presents a photo competition that captures the history of Northbridge, as seen by you. Prizes for best photos of Northbridge interiors, street cultures and creatives.
THE BOOTH. Welcome and enter. A private golden space filled with frankincense and solace. Confess to your priest and her video camera. She is there to pardon and absolve from 1–4pm and 6–10pm.
REFORM. Tuning in via radio headsets, audiences follow the loyal citizen’s underground (l.c.u) taskforce through the streets of Northbridge and experience Neighbourhood Watch gone awry. Equipped with code of conduct cards and an enthusiasm for legislation and social standards, the l.c.u discover a ripe underbelly of civil disobedience amongst unwitting festival goers. Sign in at the Reform Booth for tours at 6pm, 7pm, 9.30pm and 10.30pm.
SILENT DISCO. Enter the disco, put on your head phones, choose your channel, then shake it with your dance-floor pals to the sound of your very own beat. Silent Disco is a radio station that is broadcast only for the participants of Silent Disco. 5pm to 11pm.
