Preparing to be Beautiful is an evening of sensuous entertainment designed to ravish the audience’s senses.
Sumptuous bouquets of exquisite and pungent lilies set the scene as six couples prepare for dinner. As the evening progresses, from candlelit intimacy, to boozy chaos and abrasive argument, anything is possible.

Choreographed by Alice Lee Holland with an original score by Sydney-based composer Julian Day, Preparing to be Beautiful is a highly anticipated event, with The West Australian dance reviewer describing a showcase extract as “stylish and energetic”.

Depicting the ‘beautiful’ lives we live and desire, Preparing to be Beautiful explores the concept of beauty in Western culture, from our Grecian heritage that draws us to symmetry, structure and order, to our modern-day voyeuristic tendencies that reveal an interest in chaos and spontaneity. How do these tensions play out in our lives?
