The symposium brings together creative comrades whose work challenges, inspires and pushes the boundaries of contemporary performance. This is a once in a decade chance for anyone involved or interested in theatre, performance, dance and live practice to directly engage with the avant-garde.
It features presentations and panels that demystify and showcase the new wave of live art culture in Australia.
Sessions include: Responding to it – works that exist in the moment. You’re in it – activating the audience. Getting away with it – tactical intervention into the public realm. Get it on! – producing hybrid art. With contribution from David Williams [version 1.0], Jason Sweeney & Julie Vulcan [unreasonable adults], Sam Fox [Hydra Poesis], Steve Bull, Kelli Mccluskey & Ofa Fotu [pvi], Madeleine Hodge & Sarah Rodigari [panther], Jen Jamieson [sic] Martyn Coutts [Blood Policy], Lara Thoms & Kat Barron [spat + loogie], Michelle Outram, Amy Barrett-Lennard [PICA] Jeff Khan [Next Wave], Cat Jones [Electrofringe], Marcus Canning [ARTRAGE], Rebecca Conroy [Performance Space] and Bec Dean [Performance Space].
this event has been supported through the australia council for the arts, inter arts office infuse program. infuse is for organisations, or groups in partnership with an organisation, to provide opportunities for forums, workshops or master classes for critical discussion of hybrid and interdisciplinary arts practice in australia.
