Featuring headline artist DJ Dexter & the Canyons
After a massive three weeks the SILVER ARTARGE Festival wraps with the ultimate Closing party, SILVER BULLET. Booty beats, fashion, cabaret, trapeze, feature at The Bakery Artrage Complex on Saturday November 8, and hot off the press, (after previous headliner TY pulled the tour plug), the event will be headlined by a combo that’s WAY WAY better – the Canyons and DJ Dexter.
The Canyons is the latest project from Perth expat Ryan Grieve, formerly of Rhibosome and The Bluejays. Working under the alias of Fred Cherry, and teaming up with producer/DJ Leo Frostwave, the Canyons draw from the disparate threads of soul, psych rock, disco, early house and the spatterings in between to create a sound that is fresh and now. It’s seen them gobbled up by the likes of Ladyhawke, Tame Impala and Lost Valentinos for recent remix action.
On the international rise, Artrage have invited them to bring their live show to Perth for the first time. Their show combines live instruments with drum machines, percussion, analogue effects, vocals and samples to create a sound that is refreshing, relevant, all their very own, and has a sweet cerebral dance floor vibe.
DJ Dexter needs little introduction, as a past member of the eclectic Avalanches and four times Australian DMC champion; he has constantly challenged the perception of DJing and turtablism. Since leaving the Avalanches Dexter has gone on to form ‘krump’ outfit Grrilla Step, who played the ARTARGE festival last year.
Dexter returns to Perth to drop one of his infamous DJ sets. Expect the old with the new, the classics with the obscure, building into explosions of joy and madness.
Another highlight is a very special dance/fashion parade produced by Subway DC, with Chadwick Models taking to a huge rotating dance-floor stage under the stars with beats thanks to FDEL. On the dance floor you can get skanking with our very own WA grown ska band Special Brew, or dancing with DJs Travis and Rex Monsoon. Other treats include a huge bamboo trapeze show, SugarBlue Burlesque, Schmigloo, The Booth, The Forbidden Garden, Laser Tag, RTRFM DJs in the Silent Disco and a swag of other tasty treats.
